Ngoc Son Temple

Ngoc Son Temple was built in 19th century. In the past, it's name was 'Ear of elephant', then coming Ly dynasty it's name was changed into 'Ngoc tuong' and at least renamed Ngoc Son Temple. In 1865, Nguyen Van Sieu, a Confusion scholar, remodeled Ngoc Son Temple and expanded the Pen Tower, the Inkslab and the Pavilion against Waves in order to make an unique project with historical meaning and keep for generations. All the Ngoc Son temple community was constructed to give prominence to education and traditional fondness for learning of Vietnamese people. In temple, people worshiped Saint Van Xuong, considered to be one of the brightest stars in Vietnam's literary and intellectual circle and national big hero Tran Hung Dao who had led the Vietnamese people to victory over the Mongo aggressors. Besides, the Buddha was also worshiped to show the conception of triple religions at the same time. With the unique architecture, Ngoc Son temple became a historical monument in the heart of Hanoi. Coming here, you are feel peaceful and comfortable in the shade of tree and enormous space with breeze. Nowaday, it is not only a famous destination for foreign tourists but also a beautiful culture feature local residents have maintained and reserved for hundreds of years.
